Ever since Apple (and now, Amazon) has reached the coveted 1 trillion dollar market cap, many articles and visualizations have popped up that seek to visualize the concept of 1 trillion dollars. How much money is that exactly?
Here are two standout visualizations that I really enjoyed from the New York Times as well as information is beautiful. One compares the valuation to other companies smaller than Apple inc, giving it a context in the business world (how many companies added up equals an Apple?); the other visualization puts the 1 trillion dollar valuation into larger contexts, comparing it to GDP, debt, etc.
